Using Facebook to Stay on Top of Things!

Recently a new Facebook page was created, the Southeast Asia News Digest, the provides updated access to some of the top stories in Southeast Asia.  Covering primarily Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia (less coverage on Vietnam and the Philippines, it seems), it shares some of the latest and more relevant headlines from local and international news sources focusing on human rights issues, political and social reporting, and stories of interest.  Become a fan and receive updates via Facebook.  I'm sure it will have a Twitter, too, if I have my guess.


A good place to orient yourself to the modern geo-political scene that is Southeast Asia is Dr. Sardesia's book, Southeast Asia: Past and Present, tracing its development from ancient to modern times, covering traditional history as well as modern events.  D. R. Sardesai is professor emeritus of history and the former chair of South and Southeast Asian studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.
